About

I love football and, in particular, I love Scottish football. I also like writing about it, which is why I created the site in the first place.

Aside from Rangers and Celtic (whose dominance of the newspapers, television and internet mirrors their dominance in the league), it often escapes the media and the wider world that there are another 40 teams in the Scottish league, and many more teams below that.  Each of these teams has their own history, each supported by a dedicated set of fans who follow their teams through rain and shine, through the ups and the downs and from the stunning victories to the embarrassing defeats.

When I moved to Holland I  realised just how little information there is about Scottish football outside of Scotland's fair shores so, frustrated at the lack of coverage of Scottish football other than what's happening at Ibrox and Parkhead, I decided to create Inside Left.

Simply stated, Inside Left's aim is to become the site for Scottish football on the Internet. Influenced by four web sites in particular (Some People Are On The Pitch, Pitch Invasion, Twohundredpercent and The Run of Play) I hope to reach that goal by putting up the best, most original articles about the game north of the border.

Like it says on the tin, if it's about Scottish football, whether from the SPL to the Juniors, from Wick to Stranraer, Aberdeen to Portree, Inside Left is the place you come to find out all about it. The BBC, Times Online, TeamTalk or Football365 may not care that Buckie Thistle have signed a 21-year-old Elgin City winger, but I do.

Inside Left is not a hard-core news site (I believe there are already lots of sites that do good news coverage) but I do like to keep you updated with news about the game, especially news about teams other than the Old Firm that I think you'll find interesting, covering various aspects of the game around Scotland, from the SPL to the SFL to the HFL.

In recognition of all the effort, Inside Left was recently voted one of the 25 Best Football Web Sites by The Daily Telegraph newspaper.

Depending on my workload I'll keep the site updated as frequently as possible. I do unfortunately have a job to keep and a mortgage to pay that would make your eyes water. Having said that, I'm always happy to expand the ranks - for details see the 'Become A Writer' page.

I'm also happy to write articles for your site as long as it's about Scottish football because, let's face it, I don't know anything about football south of Gretna, and you stick a link to our site on your site.

You can contact me for questions, suggestions, recipes, donations or offers of marriage via the Contact page.

The big print giveth, the small print taketh away. At Inside Left we fact-check our articles before being published; our sources are named, where appropriate. All images are used on the principle of 'fair use' but where the copyright of the owner is infringed, we will remove them without question or delay. All you need to do is contact us. In the same way we respect your copyright, please respect ours. Inside Left is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-No Derivative Works 3.0 Unported License.
