Around the League in 5 Websites

At Inside Left our mission is to bring you the best that Scottish football has to offer and hopefully bring some much needed footballing love and attention to these shores. So to keep you busy over your lunch hour, here are five of the best Scottish football sites out there, lovingly hand-picked by Inside Left, paying particular attention to those teams with which you may not be that familiar.

Queens Park is Scotland's oldest football club, having been founded in 1867 and is to this day the only amateur team in the Scottish League. That's quite old, I'm sure you'll agree, but their website is fantastic. In particular, check out QPTV, a repository for movies taken by their famously dedicated fans. The quality (of the movies) is not always great, but you cant question the passion of the fans as they follow the Spiders around the country. If nothing else, it's a good taste of what following football in the lower leagues is like. If you like those, check out the videos over at Highland League's Fraserburgh FC site. Who needs Ronaldo eh?

The London Hearts Supporters Club is home of the well, you can guess from the title. The site is a repository of all things Hearts, with statistics, player bio's, pictures and other fantastic information that can keep you clicking for hours. In particular, check out the Panini stickers page; football sure was an ugly game back in the 80's.

Methil based East Fife FC is perhaps not a team you're familiar with but have a look at their site because it's a cracking read. With excellent match reports, an in depth club history as well as squad bio's and an interesting 'Legends' section it's worth taking a detour. It's not a pretty site and doesn't render well in IE, but don't let that put you off.

Over in Angus, you'll find the town of Forfar. Forfar, or more correctly Forfar Athletic, has for many years been the butt of many football announcer jokes. Although Forfar 4-5 East Fife never happened, Forfar 5-4 East Fife did, back in 1962, and there was a Forfar 4-4 East Fife back in 1959. But I digress. Their website is an interesting read, again packed with the sort of thing that Inside Left loves: pictures, history and memorable matches. Go take a look!

Deveronvale FC's website will never win awards for elegant web design, but with excellent articles, match reports, team pictures and line-ups going back several years, it's a great place to pass the time. Many years ago, Inside Left worked at an office over the summer holidays, and his boss there was manager of Deveronvale at the time. Inside Left was honoured with the task, every Monday and Thursday of taking his car, a white Volkswagen Passat, to the Chinese laundry in George Street in Aberdeen to drop off and pick up the teams kit. There, that's trivia for you!

Ok, back with more news tomorrow. Comments, feedback and links to the usual address!
